Frequently asked questions

  • Simply put, permanent jewelry doesn’t have a clasp. Once you choose the style of chain you like, we will micro-weld it closed for everyday wear and then it’s on for as long as you’d like!

Permanent jewelry is as permanent as you’d like it to be!

  • Permanent jewelry is not indestructible! Nothing lasts forever - but we do guarantee the weld. We do not guarantee the chain as we have no control over what you do to it once you leave the studio. If you catch your chain om something and it breaks, bring it in and we’ll do our best to fix it, but this might incur a charge.

  • Due to insurance liability we don’t weld kids under the age of 12. We do however still offer the experience of having a custom fit bracelet, but with a clasp added.

  • No problem! Just come by the studio and we will cut the jump ring - or you can take a pair of wire clippers (or even nail clippers) and cut through the jump ring to remove your chain.

  • Unfortunately, we cannot be held responsible for lost jewelry.

  • Since you’re wearing your piece everyday, it will depend on your lifestyle as to how each of the metals will wear over time. We always suggest avoiding highly chlorinated hot tubs and such. The 14k gold chain may be more expensive but it will be the one more likely to hold it’s color for a lifetime. Over much time, gold fill may start to reveal it’s brass base and silver does tarnish with time. Using a little gentle soap and water to clean your chain after exercising, applying lotions or oils is highly recommended. Certain products can effect the overall apperace of your jewelry.

  • Highly unlikely as none of the chains we use are terribly thick or heavy. If your jewelry does set it off, airport security will simply wand your jewelry and let you through. (We’ve personally tested this!)

  • Yes, we have a welder and will travel! Book us for your wedding parties, Bachelorettes, Birthdays and more! Email us for pricing info or see our booking page.

  • Yes, we highly recommend stacking!

  • No problem! We can attach a clasp or small split ring and you can still participate in all the fun without the commitment! You’ll still have a custom-fit piece welded closed.

  • Absolutely not! That’s the beauty of using a micro-tig welder - there is no flame! The welder creates a small spark and only heats where the electrode touches once the circuit is completed. Your skin can’t be a conductor, thus no pain!

  • Micro-Welding is secure, safe, and of the highest quality.

Pulse Arc Micro-Welding uses a pinpoint of electrical current in a single burst at the point of the weld. This liquifies and molecularly joins the metal on both sides of the weld. All the heat is contained at the point of the weld and the joint is 100% composed of the same metal as the jewelry.

Fine Solder is not possible in permanent jewelry.
Fine jewelry solder fills the microscopic gap in the jump ring using the addition of silver or gold solder which melts at around 1500 degrees Fahrenheit using an open flame. It is the best choice for fine jewelry construction like rings and earrings but the whole piece becomes too hot to touch while it's being worked so it can't be used for permanent jewelry on the body.

Soft Solder is not secure and it is not safe.
Soft solder is a lead, tin, or zinc based solder that can be melted at much lower temperatures with a soldering iron. It’s purpose is for things like electronics and stained glass. It is not appropriate for use in jewelry for two reasons: Not only is it a less secure bond due to chemistry and physics of the different metals, but it is also not safe for jewelry due to the toxicity of lead, tin, and zinc in constant contact with the body and absorption through the skin.

Pulse-Arc Micro-Welding is the safe, secure, and industry quality standard in permanent jewelry.
